1.  Thursday, July 20th General Membership Meeting.  Visitors Welcome.

Oro Valley Library Conference Room.  6:30 PM.

Presentation by Dr. Bill Doelle, President of Desert Archaeology:

 

Uncovering Prehistoric Homes in Oro Valley:  Archaeological Excavations at the Honey Bee Village.

 

Bill will tell us about the current excavations at Honey Bee Village where portions of over 100 pithouses have been uncovered.

 

2. Friday July 21st.  Early morning tour of the Honey Bee Village Site by Henry Wallace who is directing fieldwork for Honey Bee Village. Tour is open to the public.  Time yet to be determined.

 

3. September 21st. General Membership Meeting.  Visitors Welcome.

Architect Mr. Richard F. Tom will discuss the restoration of historic structures.  This presentation will be timely and informative given the progress in negotiations for Town acquisition of the Steam Pump Ranch.

 

Other News

 

1.  The Oro Valley Town Council voted to accept a counter-offer from the owners of the Steam Pump Ranch property.  If the Pima County Board of Supervisors also accepts this offer the entire 15.2 acre historic site may be acquired for preservation by October.

 

2. The White Stallion Ranch fund raising event was a great success resulting in $1,900.00 for Historical Society funds.
