          NEWSLETTER III

     The following are items of information we want to pass on to you:

           

            1. The Oro Valley Historical Society (OVHS) has adopted a logo as seen at the top of this page. The symbol is derived from a seventeenth century Spanish emblem for gold. It will be shown in gold color when possible.

 

            2. The OVHS will be set up in booth 96 at the GOVAC “Arts in the Park” event being held October 29th and 30th. At this booth you will see the Society’s new banner. Also, a raffle will be held for a $50 Metropolitan Gift certificate.

 

            3. The Oro Valley Town Council at the October 5th meeting directed the Town Manager and the Town Attorney to pursue acquisition of the entire 15.18 acre parcel that includes the Steam Pump Ranch buildings.

 

            4. The George Pusch historic documents , books and other items have been given by Henry Zipf to the Society through a Deed of Gift. Work will be started to properly preserve and document all materials. The Past Perfect Museum Software for collection management is being purchased as well as acid free archival materials for proper storage of the materials.

 

            5. The OVHS has become a member of the American Association For State And Local History. (Generally referred to as AASLH)
