May General Membership Meeting

  1. Meeting called to order at 6:30 by President Jim Kriegh.

Presentation of video with Connie Allen-Bacon and Betty Chester Dreyfus being interviewed by Carmen Villa Prezelski on “Tucson Remembered” in 1999 about the early 1900s in Catalina State Park and at the Romero Ranch.  Connie Allen-Bacon introduced the video, answered questions and brought historic photos and documents.

 

  1. Business Meeting

 

a.       The White Stallion Ranch fundraising event on May 6th was a great success

with all having a good time.  $1,900 raised for the OVHS. 70 people attended.

 

b.      Financial report.  The OVHS currently has 92 memberships and a bank balance of $10,171.22.

 

c.       Jim provided information about the Farmers Market on May 20th when the Historic Preservation Commission and OVHS will have a table and have information available as part  of National Historic Preservation Month.

 

d.  Committee Activities Update.

Student Education Committee – will begin planning activities during the summer months.

 

Steam Pump Ranch Planning Committee:  Jack Evert and Roxy Johnson co-chairs.  Committee met in April. A mission statement is being developed.

 

Oral History Committee:  Judith James and Mary Borelli co-chairs.  Committee met in May to determine start of interviews and equipment to be purchased or time rented with a recording company.

 

Archival Committee:  Committee met in May.  Access to Town Hall basement (where Town history documents stored) is being provided by the Town so that inventory can be done there George Pusch collection can also be inventoried there rather than at Jim’s house.
